Sherman R. Garner, 65, former Crawfordsville grocer, died about 9 a.m. Monday after suffering a stroke. He was stricken at his residence, 410 S. Washington St., and was pro- nounced dead on arrival at Culver Hospital. Mr. Garner also was a former employe at R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. here, the CEL & P office and the state highway department. Born, May 31, 1904, Mr. Garner was the son of John Albert Garner and Myrtie Richardson Garner. He married Clara Irene Mitcheltree April 27, 1930, in Boone County. Mr. Garner was a graduate of Advance High School. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge. Surviving, in addition to the widow, are a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Garner of Brownsburg. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church and burial will be in New Ross Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Friends may call at the Powers Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Tueday.
